Neighborhoods Near the University of Arizona

University of Arizona football game in Tucson

Established in 1885, The University of Arizona is not only the academic hub of Tucson, it’s also a massive cultural, athletic, and entertainment center for the entire city. Metropolitan Tucson may have a population of over 1 million, but make no mistake, this is still a college town.

If you were born in Tucson, being an Arizona Wildcat might as well be a part of your DNA no matter where you may end up going to college…and the same can be said for many of the folks who move here. The city essentially revolves around two things — the weather and the U of A — and if you come to Tucson, you might find that your life will too.

My days as an enrolled wildcat are long gone, but I still choose to live near campus because of the proximity to fun activities, renowned restaurants, and entertainment, much of which can be found in downtown or along Historic Fourth Avenue. The university area is also one of the most walkable and bike-friendly parts of town, making it an equally great place for individuals and families to live, work, and commute from.

If you’re interested in buying a home close to campus, here are some of the immediate neighborhoods outside of the U of A that are worth exploring. Home prices can range substantially in this area depending on the neighborhood, lot and home size, and if the home is historic or architecturally significant.
